HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 12 Tallahassee (Fla.) Eagles mounted a second half comeback to top Trinidad State (Colo.) 78-75 in the first round of the NJCAA Tournament on Monday in the Sports Arena.
The Eagles found themselves down 44-34 at halftime before flipping the script and outscoring the Trojans 44-31 in the second half to secure the opening round victory.
Malachi Davis led the way for the Eagles with 31 points on 13 of 25 from the floor. Dejour Reaves had 28 for the Trojans in the losing effort on 12 of 17 shooting. The Eagles forced the Trojans into 26 turnovers, resulting in 25 points.
Tallahassee will now face No. 5 Salt Lake (Utah) in the second round on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
