Delpha Dean Engelland |1930-2026|

Delpha Dean Engelland, 95, died April 29, 2026, at Rice Community Hospital, Lyons. She was born November 6, 1930, in Hutchinson, to Albert Ephriam “Bert” and Cecile Pearl (Pruner) White.

Delpha graduated from Reno Community High School in 1948. She was a devoted wife and partner in the family farming operation. Delpha also belonged to the Sweet Adelines, Atlanta Achievers EHU, served as an election board worker, and volunteered at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with their women’s auxiliary. In addition, she was an avid quilter and gardener. For over 71 years, Delpha was a faithful member of Midland United Church of Christ, where she was involved with the women’s fellowship and served as their music director. Delpha cherished time spent watching and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and other activities.

On May 6, 1951, she married Carroll Lee Engelland, in Hutchinson. They shared over 71 years of marriage prior to his death on April 19, 2023.

Delpha is survived by: sons, Bruce (Sharon) Engelland of Nickerson, Glenn (Kay) Engelland of Salina, Tom (Dena) Engelland of Sterling; grandchildren, Brent (Lisa) Engelland, Brett (Lori) Engelland, all of Nickerson, Matt (Jess) Engelland of Hutchinson, Erin (Nathan) Hughes of Wichita, Alex Engelland of Salina, Katie (Leo) Huelskamp of Sterling, and Eric (Katharina) Engelland of McKinney, TX; great-grandchildren, Bryanna (Sydney) Engelland, Brylee (Bailey) Daniels, Brooke (Ryan) Mason, Taylor Engelland, Karson Engelland, Denae Engelland, Blakely Hughes, Rowen Hughes, Lincoln Hughes, Wade Huelskamp, Ty Huelskamp, Brady Engelland, Lexi Engelland, Logan Engelland, and Max Engelland; great-great grandchild, Leslie Rae Mason, arriving in September; brother, Larry (Cheryl) White of Nickerson; sisters-in-law, Betty Engelland of Lyons and Cheryl Engelland of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Carroll, sister, Donna Beals (Richard); brother, Bud White (Evelyn); great-grandchild, Michael Engelland; and brothers in-laws, Donald Engelland (Rosemary) Kermit Engelland, and Dwight Engelland (Pat).

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Midland United Church of Christ, 1955 22nd Road, Sterling, with Pastor Jim Hollinger officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
