HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Health Department is recognizing National Fall prevention week with a new eight week program. “A Matter of Balance,” will meet two hours each week over the two month period. The program is an evidence-based class designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.
Many people think falls are a normal part of aging. The truth is, they’re not. Most falls can be prevented—and older adults have the power to reduce that risk. Exercising, managing medications, having your vision checked, and making a living environment safer are all steps that can be taken to prevent a fall.
