
KANSAS CITY —Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire at a commercial building in Kansas City.
Just before 11p.m. Monday, Kansas City Fire Department companies were dispatched to a reported building fire in the 1100 block of West 8th Street in Kansas City, Missouri, according to Battalion Chief Riley Nolan.

On arrival, crews reported heavy smoke showing from a 6-story commercial building and initiated an offensive fire attack.
The fire was found to be in an open elevator shaft and burning on the roof of the structure.

Crews advanced 3 hose lines to extinguish the fire, which was placed under control at 11:55 p.m.The cause of the fire is under investigation by KCFD.
Dangerous Buildings and City Planning were requested to the scene. No injuries have been reported from this incident.
