
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Sales tax revenue for the city of Hutchinson increased year-over-year in April.
According to figures released from the city finance department, sales tax receipts increased by 11.24% to $1,346,688. That’s $136,000 higher than the same month in 2021.
The special tax on the Sports Arena improvements brought in just over $268,000 and the $0.25 sales tax brought in just under $192,000 with $63,000 to the Cosmosphere, another $9,600 to Strataca, almost $29,000 to property tax relief and $90,000 to city infrastructure.
So far in 2022, the city has collected about $5.9 million in sales tax revenue, or about 35% of the way to the projected budget number for the year. Sales tax numbers in April reflect shopping trends for the month of February.
