Elijah D. Johnson, 25, of Wichita, entered his eternal rest on August 6, 2024. He was born March, 13, 1999, in Hutchinson, to Cornelius Johnson and Erica Combs. 

Elijah graduated from Hutchinson High School and attended Wichita State University where he enjoyed taking classes in computer science. He worked as a Lyft driver and appreciated showing off his Lexus. Elijah was passionate about basketball. He cheered for the University of Kansas and the LA Lakers with Kobe Bryant being a great inspiration to him. Elijah had a taste for delicious cuisine and was always looking for the best spots to eat. He treasured his family deeply and will always be remembered as “Uncle Bubba.” 

Elijah is survived by: mother, Erica Combs, Wichita; father, Cornelius Johnson, Hutchinson; sisters, Essence Johnson, Wichita and Mariah Johnson, Hutchinson; brother, Darius Johnson, Georgia; nephew, Princeton Johnson; grandparents, Catherine Brewer, Hutchinson, Gain (Shirley) Johnson, Mike (Roslyn) Combs, all of Georgia; great-grandmother, Evelyn Simon, Wichita; uncles, Bobby “Bob” Combs, Craig Combs, and Cedric Johnson, all of Georgia; aunts, Melissa (Luis) Gutierrez, Amanda Swinney, both of Hutchinson and Asonta Johnson, Michelle Lee, both of Georgia.  

He was preceded in death by: great-grandfather, Gerald Simon; great-grandmother Gladys Ford; and beloved pets, Precious and Buttercup. 

Parish Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, both at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Ave., Hutchinson, with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2024, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Redemption Animal Rescue, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
