
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The May Coffee at the Cosmo is Thursday and Cosmosphere is celebrating 50 years of Skylab.
Join Emily Carney, David Hitt, John Mulnix, and via Zoom, astronaut and Skylab 3 pilot, Jack Lousma and Mission Control Flight Director, Milt Windler, for “Skylab at 50: Blazing the Trail for ISS, Artemis and Beyond.”
This live conversation will cover the history of Skylab and the effect its creation has had on the space program as a whole.
Emily Carney is a historian, writer and United States Navy veteran. Carney is a co-host of "Space and Things," a weekly podcast devoted to the exploration of space, covering the past, present, and future of space flight.
David Hitt is co-author of two books, “Homesteading Space: The Skylab Story,” written with astronauts Owen Garriott and Joe Kerwin, and “Bold They Rise: The Space Shuttle Early Years,” and has appeared in documentaries including the award-winning "Searching for Skylab" and "Saving Skylab." Hitt has worked as a contractor at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center since 2002 and is currently working for Jacobs as a systems engineer supporting payload integration for NASA's Space Launch System rocket. He is a recipient of NASA's Silver Snoopy Award, presented by the agency's Astronaut Office.
John Mulnix launched "The Cosmosphere Podcast" in 2017, a digital journey into history and science where listeners discover the inspiration that can only be found at the Cosmosphere. In his free time Mulnix volunteers at the Cosmosphere, assisting with history-focused social media content. He also started “The Space Shot,” a podcast with over 425 episodes covering space history, science, and pop culture.
Astronaut Jack Lousma was a Skylab 3 pilot and STS-3 Commander. Milt Windler was a Mission Control Flight Director at NASA.
