County announces public hearing for Yoder and HABIT sewer project

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County will hold a public hearing at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 in the Veterans Room of the courthouse located at 206 West 1st Avenue, Hutchinson, Kansas, to present and discuss the proposed improvements for the wastewater system improvements project related to the Yoder and HABIT sewer districts.

The improvements will be funded under the low interest State Revolving Loan Fund Program through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The Loan application will include funding for the following improvements:

1. Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements consisting of the construction new lagoons with all appurtenances for treatment of raw sewage from Reno County Sewer District Nos. 201 and 202 with an estimated amount of $2,892,600.00.

2. Sewer Collection System Improvements consisting of the installation of 2,905’ of 10” cured in place pipe, 12,635’ of 8” cured in place pipe and 205’ of 6” cured in place pipe with appurtenances to provide for the transportation of raw sewage to the lagoons.

Two lift stations will be installed to move the sewage from District Nos. 201 and 202 to the lagoon site with an estimated amount of $1,514,000.

The anticipated amount of the loan application request will be $6,133,100.00 the total project cost is estimated at. $6,133,100.00 The anticipated increase in sewer use charges will be discussed at the public hearing. The proposed improvements will be explained and comments by the public will be considered. Oral and written comments will be accepted. Any written comments will become a part of the County’s record of the public hearing.
