
Wayne Archie Nobbs, Jr., 86, of Hutchinson, died August 7, 2023, at Hospice House. He was born August 27, 1936, in Wichita, to Wayne Archie and Audrey Ann (Lauchland) Nobbs, Sr.
Wayne graduated from Wichita East High School in 1955 and attended Wichita State University. He started working in the aircraft industry and then worked as a mechanical engineer for various companies, designing the Titan missile, cattle feeders, irrigation systems, motor homes, foundry equipment, amusement rides and handicap accessibility ramps for Motorized Trolley Cars, until he retired from Chance Coach. Wayne loved working to restore his antique truck, working in his garage, and being outside in the yard. But his passion was service to others, singing in church choirs, and he felt his real purpose was to share his faith and God's word with everyone he met.
Wayne was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
On September 4, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Huffmaster, in Wichita. They shared nearly 64 years of marriage before her death on February 5, 2019.
Wayne is survived by: his children, Debra Snyder (Mike) of Fort Worth, TX, Kevin Nobbs (Brenda) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Brandon Nobbs (Jessica), Lacey Herren (Jason), Heather Snyder, Patrick Snyder (Jess), Tarin Farmer (Anthony), Morgan Braundmeier (Aaron), Trevor Nobbs, Brett Nobbs, Rachel Ratliff, Peggy Israel; 14 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Allison Branson; son, David; and two great-granddaughters.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023, at First Southern Baptist Church, 1201 E. 23rd Ave., Hutchinson. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/fsbhutch. Inurnment will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson.
The family will be available to visit and greet friends prior to the service and afterwards.
