Remedios “Mello” Navarro, 90, of Hutchinson, passed away April 23, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at her home. She was born October 5, 1933, in La Union, New Mexico, to Antonio Olmos Ventura and Juanita Castro Llamas.

Mello married Peter M. Navarro in February of 1955, in McPherson. They settled in Hutchinson and, in addition to being a mother and a homemaker, she worked in several Hutchinson businesses – Peter Pan cleaners, Meschke’s Clothing, and International Homes. Mello was an excellent cook and loved doing crafts and sewing and helping others. She was a member of Church of the Holy Cross and volunteered in the kitchen at Holy Cross Catholic School.

Mello is survived by: her sons, John C. Navarro of Hutchinson, Steve & Connie Navarro of Hutchinson, Peter “Edd” Navarro of Austin, TX, Martin Navarro of Hutchinson, David & Margaret Navarro of Wichita; grandchildren, Matthew Navarro of Hutchinson, Anthony & Bailey Navarro of Lawrence, Devin Porting of Manitowoc, WI, Daniel Porting of Hutchinson, Joshua Navarro of Lawrence, Haley Navarro of Hutchinson; great-grandchild, Calland Navarro of Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Tonia Navarro of Hutchinson; and several godchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Gina Navarro; husband, Peter M. Navarro; and siblings, Jesus Mendoza, Manuel Olmos, Mercedes Navarro, Jose Olmos, Francisco Olmos, Ramon Olmos, and Maria Llamas.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd., Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-8 p.m., with family present to receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to Traditions Health Hospice Care or Church of the Holy Cross, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
