HUTCHINSON, Kan. — There are still no firm decisions on how the Reno County Commission will assemble the 2023 budget.
During Tuesday's meeting, the commission further discussed the budget with all three commissioners having a varying opinion of how to deal with the fiscal year. As with the ARPA funds recently approved, the commissioners want County Administrator Randy Partington to draw up a list of services in the budget and let each commissioner decide where they want cuts and how much, if any.
Partington says that the commissioners will go over the suggestions during their Aug. 9 meeting and then follow up with the revisions at a following meeting. The county would need to cut about $1.3 million from a proposed budget of just over $81 million to hit the revenue neutral rate for the year.
