HUTCHINSON, Kan — Local teams competed at the 2024 Kansas KidWind Southcentral Region Challenge on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at Stringer Fine Arts Center.
Hutch STEM Blue placed first in the fourth-eighth grade division and will compete at the state finals in Salina on April 14. Stem Blue also received the Judge's Choice award.
Bob the Winders placed third in the fourth-eighth grade division. The Bob the Winders team will go to state if the second place team which was the Sterling Black Bears, cannot make it to the competition.
In the high school division, the Buhler Cru Winds placed first, the Sterling White Chicks & Deryn placed second and the Zip Ties 'N Bias Plies from Sterling placed third.
Kansas KidWind is an energy-related STEM education event from the Kansas Corporation Commission and K-State Engineering Extension.
State winners are invited to nationals in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 5-8. More information about KidWind is available at kcc.ks.gov.
