HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson police were called out Thursday afternoon at 3:08 p.m. to the Porter Commons apartment complex at 1417 Katie Drive.
A woman was found there with facial injuries and apparent broken bones. There was evidence that her apartment door was forced open. Several people were inside when the door was kicked in.
There were several bullet holes on the exterior of several apartments and two more victims were in the area when gunshots were fired by a man later identified as 24-year-old Dakota Ney.
Ney was arrested for two counts of aggravated assault, four counts of aggravated burglary, shooting into an occupied dwelling, felony criminal damage and misdemeanor criminal damage, along with felon in possession of a firearm.
Located elsewhere and also arrested was 21-year-old Aryanna Fernandez for aggravated battery and four counts of aggravated burglary.
This case is still an active investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Reno County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222 TIPS or Sergeant Jones at 620-694-2822.
All parties are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
