County active cases up above 700 for the first time in over a year

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The number of active COVID cases continues to climb quickly in Reno County.

In the past week, the number of active cases has jumped by 482 cases to 724. That’s the highest number of active cases since Dec. 14 of 2020. Currently, 18 Reno County residents are hospitalized.

The overall case count has increased by 846 in the past seven days to 13,963. The vaccination status remains unchanged at 52.7% or 32,944 county residents.

The death toll from the virus increased by two in the past week to 190.
