Otto “Butch” Henning, 81, died July 5th 2024 at The Cottages in Shawnee, KS.   Butch was born February 23, 1943 in Kingman, KS.  Son to Otto Henning and Viola (Kathman) Henning.  Butch was the second oldest of 6 siblings. 

He graduated from Kingman High and Wichita State University.  Butch taught at Kapaun High School following his graduation and then moved to Hutchinson in 1969 where he continued his teaching and coaching career for 33 years.  He enjoyed working with young people and particularly loved coaching football!  

Butch married his wife Mary Jane Harter on January 23rd, 1965 in Wichita, KS.  Butch was a devout Catholic and his devotion to his faith, family and friends will always be remembered.  

Butch is proceeded in death by his wife Mary Jane, his father and mother, Otto and Viola Henning and siblings Ron Henning, Diane Thimesch and Gary Henning. 

He is survived by his sons Jeff and Michele Henning, Corey and Vivian Henning, Casey and Amee Henning. Grandchildren, Katie and Kyle Burkhardt, Mackenzee and Dan Kralicek, Jordan, Josey, Wyatt, Jayce, Mindy and Mitchell. Great Grandkids, Carter, Cole, Kash and his brothers Donnie Henning and Wayne Henning.

Parish Rosary will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, both officiated by Father Michael Harter.  Burial will follow in the Saint Louis Cemetery, Waterloo, KS. Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Church of the Holy Cross. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Church of the Holy Cross, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
