James Schrag, 78, passed away January 7, 2023 at Kidron Bethel in North Newton.
He was born November 24, 1944 in Newton to Menno and Gertrude (Aeberhard) Schrag. He married Judith Nickel June 11, 1966 at Brudertahl Mennonite Church rural Hillsboro. Survivors include: wife, Judy Schrag of Newton; daughters, Valerie Schrag of Lawrence, Melissa (Doug) Claassen Moses Lake, Washington, Rachel (Brad) Schrag Sommerfeld of Wichita; sister, Elisabeth (DeWayne) Pauls of Newton; sister-in-law, Frances Schrag of Newton; 4 grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother Robert Schrag in 2016.
Celebration of Life 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2023 at First Mennonite Church in Newton officiated by Pastor Laura Goerzen and Pastor Luke Unruh. Family will have a private Committal service at Haven of Rest cemetery rural Hillsboro. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at First Mennonite Church in Newton.
