WYANDOTTE COUNTY —Law enforcement captured a wanted suspect after a chase last week in Wyandotte County.
Just after 8:30p.m. July 30, troopers had prior knowledge of a 1999 Chevy Silverado that had previously fled multiple times from Kansas City, Kansas Officers, according to a social media report from the KHP. The tag on the Silverado belonged on a Chevy Cruze.
A trooper located the vehicle as it was southbound on 18th Street when it passed them on a traffic stop. The trooper initiated a stop near 12th and Kansas, but the driver fled. The vehicle was briefly pursued before the Grappler was successfully deployed.
The driver tried to drive out of it, but was unsuccessful. The pursuit came to an end near Ferree Street and Kansas Avenue where the driver was arrested without incident. The driver's 9 year old son was also in the vehicle, and was unharmed during the incident. He was later released to his adult sister who arrived on scene. The driver was found to have an active felony warrant out of Wyandotte County for Felony Probation Violation-Possession of Meth. The warrant was confirmed.
The driver is being held in the Wyandotte County on requested charges of felony fleeing or attempting to elude, aggravated endangering a child, possession of stolen property, driving while suspended, no insurance and switched tag.
