HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Registration is now open for Hutchinson Community College’s 2026 Fire Science Student Field Day, offering area high school students a hands-on look at firefighting and careers in the fire service.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the HutchCC Fire Science Facility, 3211 E. Fourth Ave. in Hutchinson.
The field day is open to high school freshmen through seniors, along with their parents.
During the event, students will have an opportunity to see firefighting techniques in action and meet HutchCC student firefighters. Participants will also learn about different careers within the fire service and the education and training involved in preparing for those careers.
HutchCC officials said the event will also provide information about student internships and summer job opportunities in the fire service.
The Fire Science program provides training for students interested in firefighting and related emergency service careers. The field day is designed to give prospective students a closer look at the profession and the training available through HutchCC.
Advance registration is required, and space for the event is limited.
