Janet Ellen Patterson, 80, formerly of Conway Springs, died March 18, 2024, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.  She was born June 23, 1943, in Conway Springs, to John Francis and Catherine Virginia (Armour) Andra.

Janet attended school in Conway Springs, and received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.  She taught over 32 years in many locations including Jamaica, St. Margaret Mary and Holy Savior, both in Wichita, St. Robert Bellarmine in Burbank, California, St. Joseph in Conway Springs, and retired from Conway Springs High School as the English and French teacher. She also served many years as the school’s Scholar’s Bowl coach.  Janet enjoyed collecting and polishing rocks, doing puzzles, and spending time with family.  She was an advocate for individuals who were victims of clergy abuse, and helped many people across the country. 

On December 27, 1966, she married Horace E. Patterson, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs.  He died October 16, 2013, after sharing almost 47 years of marriage. 

Janet is survived by:  children, Rebecca Leddy (Curtis) of Wichita, Catherine “Cat” Poland (David) of Hutchinson, and Luke Patterson (Luisa) of Livingston, TX; grandchildren, Andrew Leddy (Corianne), Jason Leddy (Alexa), Michael Leddy, Matthew Leddy, Sean Ford, Alexander Poland, Erica Poland, and Daniel Poland; great-grandchildren, Dax Leddy, Blaire Leddy, Cadence Leddy, Noah Leddy, with another great-granddaughter to arrive soon; siblings, Richard Andra (Dee), Pat Andra, Jim Andra (Peggy), John Andra, Don Andra (Mary), and Christy Wilson (Bret); special cousin, Valerie Roper; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; son, Eric Patterson, brother, David Andra (JoAnne), and niece, Erin Andra Wilson. 

Parish Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 217 N. 6th St., Conway Springs.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2024, at the church, with Father Kyle Dugan officiating both the Rosary and Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Conway Springs.
