
Merlyn C. “Gus” Noble, 87, passed away March 21, 2025, at the Buhler Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler. He was born March 25, 1937, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Eldon Judson and Lillian Bertine (Servold) Noble.
Merlyn was a 1955 graduate of Howard High School in South Dakota. He was a retired welder for Borton, Inc. Merlyn enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry and attending auctions. He also found a lot of joy in spending time with his granddaughter Mandy and her family including his great-grandson Travis’ activities.
Merlyn is survived by: son, Rod Noble, Snoqualmie, WA; daughters, Renae (Keith) Hughes, Hutchinson, KS, and Raela (Troy) Brosius, Buhler, KS; three grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Dean Noble, Sioux Falls, SD and sister, Ruby VanScharrel, Howard, SD.
The family will receive friends on Thursday April 10, 2025, from 6 – 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., Hutchinson KS 67501. Friends may sign his book daily Monday through Saturday 9 – 5 pm and Sunday 1 – 5 pm through April 10, 2025. Private family services will be held. There will be a family gathering to honor Merlyn in South Dakota at a later date.
