RICE COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Rice County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2022 Hyundai Pallisade driven by Hua Lin, 33, Wichita, was westbound on Avenue Q five miles north of Sterling, when the driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign at Kansas 14 and collided with a northbound 2017 Ford Focus driven by Christy A. Morrison, 50, Lyons. Both vehicles came to rest in the northwest ditch.
EMS transported Morrison to a hospital in Wichita and a passenger in the Ford Christopher A. Morrison, 60, Lyons, to Lyons Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Lin and a passenger in the Hyundai were not injured. All four were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
