Charles ‘Charlie’ Howard Pitts |1931-2023|

Charles ‘Charlie’ Howard Pitts, age 91, died February 16, 2023, in Hutchinson, KS. He was born June 20, 1931, to Charles Harold Pitts and Sarah Patton (Freerksen) Pitts.

Charlie graduated from Satanta High School, Satanta, KS. He was a very successful entrepreneur, owning Charlie’s Service and Wrecker Service, along with other businesses.

Charlie enjoyed watching KU basketball, gardening, fishing, feeding the birds, and working in the yard. He was an avid racecar driver of jalopies and Super Modified series, a passionate softball coach of “Charlie’s,” and a loyal member of the HCC Quarterback Club.

Charlie is survived by his five children: Ron (Donna) Goodwin, Tonganoxie, KS, Kae (Duane) Ruesegger, Chootaw, OK, Wynona (Dwight) Gehring, Hutchinson, Rick (Dalaine) Pitts, Hutchinson, and Rhonda (Ken) Crissman, Troutman, NC; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Forest Pitts and Orrin Pitts, both of Hutchinson.

He was proceeded in death by: his parents; brothers, Lloyd, Carl, and Roy; and sister, Cleo.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Diane Ravenstien officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
