HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Stage 9 begins the new year with an old favorite Neil Simon comedy, Barefoot in the Park and they need a couple of pieces still to finish out their set.

"We would like to have a small, curved, beat up, white, or, I don't care, it could be a different color, white refrigerator," said Kris Anschutz with Stage 9. "It could be from the 50s or 60s, but we want a small, round one. That's one thing we're looking for and we're also looking for a small toilet."

They'd just like to borrow these items, as they don't have a place to store them.

Performances of Barefoot in the Park are at 7:30 p.m. March 9-11  and March 16-18 at 9 South Main. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students.

First-time director Mikayla Lugafet leads a small cast in the romantic comedy from the 1960s with quirky characters.

The show was nominated for three Tony Awards and was Simon's longest running show on Broadway.

The play takes place in the 60s in NYC brownstone in a tiny apartment on the top floor.

Corie and Paul have been married six days, the play is about how Corie, a free spirit, and Paul, a stuffed shirt lawyer, learn to co-exist during a cold February when Corie wants to walk “barefoot in the park”.

"Those of us who grew up in the 50s and came to age in the 60s were rebelling against our parents," Anschutz said. "Kids still rebel against their parents. They don't want to be their parents. Corie finds out that perhaps she needs to make some compromises."

The cast is as follows:
