Carol Faye Gerstner of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, left this earthly realm September 19, 2024. She was 93 years old.

Born Carol Faye Wilson on January 30, 1931 in Pratt, Kansas, Carol graduated from Pratt High School in 1949. She then worked at the telephone office and the Barron Theatre.

Carol met the love of her life, Don Gerstner in 1950 and they married in 1951. Living in Medicine Lodge, Carol was a traditional homemaker who put her love and care into a beautiful home, luscious gardens and making delicious food for her family. With her husband, Don, Carol raised three children. By example, Carol instilled in her children a good work ethic, love and kindness, and love for nature. Her children affectionately called her “Mother Nature”. She had a way of integrating the beauty of the prairie with home, and her love for family, pets and wildlife was bright as the sun. Carol became a skilled poet and also a pastel artist, depicting landscapes of Barber County.

Carol is survived by her husband, Don Beverly Gerstner; three children, Gwendolee Dawn (Gerstner) Ellison, Lisa Gerstner Boston and Kyle Royce Gerstner; grandchildren, Nicholas Warren Luttrell and Aaron Joseph Shute. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Bill Wilson and Sylvia Chessmore; siblings, Dale Wilson and Earleen McBride; and two grandchildren, Christi Dawn Luttrell and Joel Thomas Shute.
