Reno County Commission approves budget

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After making some significant cuts to the budget during the Aug. 9 meeting, the Reno County Commission approved the budget for 2023 following public and revenue neutral rate hearings during Tuesday’s regular meeting.

The commission was able to trim more than $1.1 million in taxes levied in the budget after coming away with another $884,000 worth of cuts during a meeting Aug. 9.

The official budget for 2023 totals $80,894,406 on total taxes levied of $25,549,032. The mill levy will be 37.810.

The cuts include several deferred vehicle purchases and a $300,000 cut to courthouse renovation spending. It also includes nearly $37,000 in service agency cuts and cutting $300,000 of cash from the employee benefits line item.
