HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Matt Michener of City Beverage released the following statement to fairgoers wondering why they cannot get their favorite beer at the Kansas State Fair this year:
Hello Loyal Customers and Friends of our Community,
City Beverage appreciates your support and inquiry about the reason the most popular beers in Kansas are not at the Kansas State Fair this year (Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra and Busch Light). This was a State Fair vendor decision, not a decision of City Beverage Management or the Kansas State Fair Management. We understand fairgoers are being told the reason they do not have our products is because we will not deliver to the State Fair. This is untrue. City Beverage has provided daily service except for Sunday for the past two years at the fair. City Beverage is unwilling to deliver products to the State Fair vendors on Sunday as they have demanded. City Beverage Company believes family must come first and Sunday is a day many of our team members attend church and participate in family outings/gatherings. Ann Bush and I honor our colleagues and will always put the needs of our team members first. Therefore, we will not require unscheduled employees to work on Sunday.
City Beverage supports the Kansas State Fair and Kansas State Fair Foundation. We encourage our community to support the Kansas State Fair and Kansas State Fair Foundation, they are doing amazing work on all our behalf at the State Fair. The Kansas State Fair is a local jewel for the city of Hutchinson and the State Fairs outreach has a positive impact within all our local communities. City Beverage hopes to see you next year with the brands you are requesting at the State Fair!
