RENO COUNTY, Kan. — The wheat crop continues to move along as harvest is now less than three months away.
According to the latest from the Kansas Ag Statistics Service, the wheat crop is listed as just 16% poor to very poor, 29% fair and 55% good to excellent. About 52% of the crop has jointed in south-central Kansas, which includes Reno County, although most of that is along the border.
The wheat is maturing a little slower than last year and is also below the five-year average.
Soil moisture continues to run well ahead of average in the area.
