
Binnie Ruth “Binky” Kendrick, 64, died March 9, 2025, at Salina Regional Medical Center. She was born March 6, 1961, in Garden City, to James Benjamin and Margie Ruth (Smith) Chaffin.
Binky graduated from Nickerson High School in 1979 and Hutchinson Community College with an associate’s degree in early childhood education. Prior to working in early childhood education, she was a Certified Nurse's Aide. Binky was an early education teacher at HeadStart for over 20 years, she was the Director of the YMCA Daycare Program and was currently the Assistant Director at Hadley Day Care Center, Hutchinson. She enjoyed playing poker and other games, travelling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Binky married Harold Edward “J.R.” Kendrick Jr., in 1988, in Hutchinson. They were married for 28 years, prior to his death in 2016.
Binky is survived by: her children, Benjamin (Cori) Wallace of Nickerson, Staci (Matthew) Fenton-Cooper of Hutchinson, Brandi Kendrick, Brent Kendrick, both of South Hutchinson; grandchildren, Emily Bailey of Hutchinson, Cody Looney of South Hutchinson, Alex Wallace of Nickerson, Kagyn Rice of South Hutchinson, Annalise Henderson of Nickerson, Aiden Cooper of Hutchinson, Cit Wallace, Gabriel Wallace, Norah-Grace Wallace, all of Nickerson; great-grandson of Isaac Bailey of Hutchinson; siblings, Tammy (Bob) Bass, Roger (Linda) Chaffin, both of Hutchinson; 14 nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and brother, Jimmy Ray Chaffin.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, at Elliott Mortuary.
