Gervis LaDelle Nagle "Delle" passed away on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, at home with her daughter, Stephanie and longtime friend, Santos, in Wichita, Kansas. Delle was born in Georgetown, Texas in 1946 to Emily Gervis Enochs and John Hester Davis. Delle was a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas, where she enjoyed all the arts the city of Houston had to offer. After moving to Wichita, Kansas seven years ago, she diligently continued to enjoy Final (and Now First) Friday, Wichita Art Museum, and Botanica. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. She spearheaded a revolutionary idea to start the country's first spinal cord injury apartments, Independent Lifestyles. Among her favorite jobs were Westminster Manor and School for the blind in Austin, and The Forum and Amazing Place in Houston.
Delle is preceded in death by her parents, Hester and Gervis Davis, her cousin, Gervis Clausel, and her daughter, Marie Schroff, and most importantly, the love of her life, John Nagle. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Stephanie Elise Miller and co-caregiver Santos Bernal, her elder brother, John Davis (Rosemary), and their children, Dawn Scott (Jim), and Arthur Davis, her younger brother Charles Davis (Joni Matthews), and their son Colin Chavez (Ashley).
Delle was spiritual and loved her three angels that she knew followed and guided her. She was also known for her witful humor and practical jokes, some legendary. A celebration memorial for Delle is scheduled for Saturday, October 22, at 1 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Potwin, Kansas. Please wear bright and cheerful colors to celebrate her life.
