South Hutchinson council to discuss bridge agreement

Posted Aug 09, 2021 8:25 PM

SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After some back and forth over responsibility and ownership of the small bridge, the South Hutchinson City Council will hold a special meeting to take action on getting the Scott Boulevard bridge repaired or replaced.

If approved, the city and Reno County will enter into an agreement with the county to assist in any way possible, outside of any financial assistance. That could include any engineering and project management.

The two sides had been in disagreement for some time about who owns the bridge after the state dropped the weight limit too low for Reno County Public Works trucks to use. After some meetings, it looks like the city will take on the project with the county’s help. That meeting is set for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the South Hutchinson city offices.
