Gilbert "Gib" Ray Lane, 73, beloved husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Merle "Shorty" Edward Lane and Dolores "Corky" Joyce (Sweet) Lane.  Raised in the Wichita area where he attended school and was a 1968 graduate of North High School, Wichita, Kansas.  He went to the Local 441 (171) apprentice school for Plumbers Pipe Fitters, which was his career for 43 years.  During that time he met his lovely bride, Jackie Steinbarger, in 1969. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Pratt, Kansas and a member of KAR (Kansas Antique Racing). He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maize, Kansas. He enjoyed his family, friends and racing.  He was an avid race fan, loved working on the cars, helping others on theirs and 'chasin racin'. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Shorty & Corky Lane and his sister Gina Herrmann.

Gib is survived by his lovely wife of 53 yrs, Jackie; children Rhonda Lane, Tracy Lane and Randy Lane, all of Wichita; grandchildren Shanda (Curtis) Brown, Brandan (Ashley) Lane, Kristin Church, Michael Lane, Elizabeth Lane and Leeah McHargue, all of Wichita; great grandchildren Rustin Lane, Tristyn Brown and Autumn Brown; sister Joyce Goerzen and brother Bobby (Sharon) Lane, all of Wichita, brother-in-law Dave Herrmann of Colorado, brother-in-law Jimmie (Julie) Steinbarger of Andover, sister-in-law Louanne (Jake) Holt of Oklahoma; many other family and friends. 

Visitation 4-6 pm, Thursday, June 13 and Service  11 am, Friday, June 14, both will be held at Glenville Bible Baptist Church, 4604 S. Seneca, Wichita, Kansas. Graveside following at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 W. US 54, Garden of Prayer, Wichita, Kansas.
