Dennis Eugene “Denny” Cairns, 67, of Hutchinson, died December 21, 2022, at Hospice House. He was born April 15, 1955, in Albuquerque, NM, to Clayton L. and Bertha D. (Johannes) Cairns.
Denny graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1973 and received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Wichita State University. He worked as a speech-language pathologist at Early Education Center for 21 years. Denny was known for his corny jokes, tie-dye t-shirts, and forgetting items in various locations.
Denny is survived by: his wife, Deane of the home; mother, Bertha Cairns of Hutchinson; daughters, Tiffany Truan (Darrin) of Hutchinson, Linda McKee of Deer Park, TX; sisters, Ronda Ashcraft and Gloria Barnes (Tim) of Hutchinson; stepmother, Helen Cairns of New Mexico; grandchildren, Eli Truan (Katy) of Hutchinson, Paige Truan (Robert Dauer) of rural McPherson, Austin and Isabella McKee of Deer Park, TX; 5 stepchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his father; great-granddaughter, Kolbi Dauer; and brother-in-law, Robert Ashcraft.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Elliott Chapel. The service will be livestreamed and the link to view it below will be active at 1:45 p.m. the day of the service.
