🏀 Wizards fend off Lightning late

WICHITA, Kan. — The OKC Lightning (0-1) jumped out to a 32-21 lead in the first quarter after the Wichita Wizards (2-1) started the game on an 8-3 run.

The Wizards tied the game up at 41 after a Kaelon Gary three with 7:41 left before the break. 

The Wizards went up by seven on a 10-3 run.

Wichita took a 59-54 lead into halftime behind 16 Kaelon Gary points. 

Gary finished with 22 on 10-for-20 shooting.

Gary and Jeremiah May led the way for Wichita with 22 points each. 

May went 10-of-18 from the field. 

Parker Austin, who scored 31 points and nabbed 10 rebounds in the home opener, added 19 points. 

The Wizards struggled from deep, hitting just 3-of-20 from distance. 

Meanwhile, the Lightning knocked down 12 triples on 42 attempts.

Three OKC players scored 20 or more points, led by D.J. Perkins' 33.

Justin Jones added 28 for the Lightning, while Richmarr Smith contributed 20.

OKC tied the game at 64 with eight minutes left in the third. 

The Lightning finished the third frame with an 84-82 advantage. 

OKC built a 98-90 lead with 9:06 remaining before the Wizards started to chip away.

A Michael Barnes putback with 6:20 left pulled Wichita within three. 

Back-to-back Braxton Kirkendoll buckets knotted the game at 106.

Parker Austin's basket with 1:38 left broke a 108 tie and put Wichita on top for good.

The Wizards went 2-of-4 from the line down the stretch (14-19 for the game) and iced the contest with two defensive stands under a minute to go.
