Fire still ahead in Battle of Badges

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Battle of the Badges Blood Drive still needs donors in its final day.

Saturday:  Goal 29 units and collected 28

Monday:  Goal 138 units and collected 124

Tuesday: Goal 131 with 85 collected

Wednesday: Goal 79 with 62 of 115 appointments scheduled

Current Battle Votes through 8 a.m. Wednesday:  Law 65 and Fire 116

The drive will be at the First Presbyterian Church located at 201 E. Sherman St. through Wednesday.

During this year’s Battle of the Badges Blood Drive, local law enforcement and fire department will compete to see who can recruit the most blood donors. Everyone who comes to give blood can cast a vote to determine who wins this year’s bragging rights. Hutchinson Police won last year.

The Red Cross said they provide about 40% of the nation’s blood supply. Eligible individuals are encouraged to schedule a blood or platelet donation appointment by using the Red Cross Blood Donor app, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or calling 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).
