MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Public Schools have announced their winners for district teacher of the year.

The elementary nominee for Kansas Teacher of the Year is Maegen Stucky who teaches fifth grade at Roosevelt Elementary.

"Mrs. Stucky is an incredibly compassionate person," RES Principal Cara Schrag said. "Her warmth and kindness are what make her classroom a home. Her students are eager to see her each day and know she is a safe place for them to truly be themselves. We are so lucky to have Maegen on our team. We could not be more proud of her."

The secondary nominee is Christopher Strathman who teaches personal finance, accounting I, business and coordinates internships at McPherson High School. He also coaches the varsity girls basketball team.

“Mr. Strathman exemplifies our McPherson High School mission statement by preparing students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners in a diverse society," MHS Principal Dr. Audrey Herbst said. "He is intentional about teaching the skills and knowledge necessary to ensure our students start their careers and life successfully after high school.”

Each building leader selected a nominee to represent their building and each teacher across the district had the opportunity to vote for teacher of the year.

Mr. Strathman and Ms. Stucky were selected through that process and will represent McPherson as a part of the 2025 Kansas Teacher of the Year Program.
