MCPHERSON COUNTY—Two people were injured in an accident just before 12:30 p.m. Monday in McPherson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Ricky Collins, 64, Fullerton, Nebraska and a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Eric Whited, 40, Ord, Nebraska were southbound on Interstate 135 just north of the rest area at the New Gottland Township in the passing lane.
The Kawasaki struck the left rear wheel on the trailer of a 2021 Freightliner semi driven by Nurbolot Vhanyzakov, 27, Loveland, Ohio, who was in the driving lane. Both motorcycle riders laid their bikes over.
EMS transported Collins and Whited to Wesley Medical Center. Vhanyzakov was not injured. Whited was not wearing a helmet, according to the KHP.
