
OTTAWA, Kan. — A Newton man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Franklin County early Thursday morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that 31-year-old Bryce Crump of Newton was going south on US-59 when he was hit by a northbound SUV driven by 18-year-old Weston Johnson of Garnett. Reports show Johnson's vehicle crossed the centerline of US-59 and hit Crump’s car. Crump was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was taken by EMS to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
The accident happened around 4:45 a.m. one mile south of Princeton, or about nine miles south of Ottawa.
