James Robert “Jim” Lowen |1953-2024|

James Robert “Jim” Lowen, 71, died unexpectedly September 8, 2024, at his home.  He was born May 18, 1953, in Hutchinson, to Woodrow Walter and Helen Louise (England) Lowen.  

Jim graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1971.  He took classes in financial services and worked in management for various insurance companies.  In addition, he owned “Jim Lowen Trucking” for over 10 years. Jim enjoyed Harley Davidson’s, and looked forward to attending the Sturgis Motorcycle rally every year in Sturgis, SD.  In addition, he enjoyed attending yearly the CMA Fan Festival and NASCAR races.  Jim belonged to two weekly breakfast groups, solving the worlds problems with friends from all walks of life.

On March 1, 1974, he married Janis Gaye Hardesty.  She died July 1, 1993.  On April 15, 1994, he married Kim (McBride) Roepka, in Hutchinson.

Jim is survived by:  his wife, Kim Lowen of Hutchinson; sons, Jake Lowen (Vanessa Sanburn) of Lawrence, Allen Roepka (Kelly), and Blake Roepka (Sara), all of Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Nadia Sanburn, Amelia Lowen, Bentley Roepka, Sullivan Roepka, and Jacob Connor.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; wife, Jan Lowen; brother, Richard Lowen; and sister, Betty Jean Lowen.

Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 Friday, September 13, 2024, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Mike Rose officiating.  Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.  The family will receive friends at Elliott Mortuary following his service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kansas Honor Flight or Folds of Honor Foundation, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
