LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN) Salary: $24.50 to $36.50 per hour Status: Full Time Shift: 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Position Overview The Licensed Nurse is responsible for assisting with planning and directing nursing care for an assigned group of residents. This position supervises charge nurses and supports the teaching and oversight of other team members to ensure quality care aligned with the mission of The Wesley.

Personnel Responsibilities

  1. Provide positive leadership and supervision of nursing personnel.
  2. Assist with orientation and training of newly hired team members.
  3. Supervise the passing of medications by CMAs in the assigned area.
  4. Evaluate completion of tasks assigned to CNAs and CMAs.
  5. Participate in personnel evaluations and corrective action with the charge nurse and Director of Nursing.

Coordination of Resident Care

  1. Assist with developing, updating and implementing resident care plans.
  2. Communicate care plan details and changes to team members.
  3. Observe, assess and report changes in resident behavior or physical condition to physicians and designated contacts.
  4. Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
  5. Ensure all procedures for medication and supply control are followed.
  6. Receive, document, execute and follow up on physician orders and complete required documentation.
  7. Model positive communication and interactions with staff, residents and families to promote a supportive environment.
  8. Help plan and implement appropriate therapeutic activities based on resident needs and interests.
  9. Execute and direct care in accordance with regulations, standards and Wesley policies.
  10. Perform duties of CNA, CMA or other nursing staff when necessary to support individual resident care plans.
  11. Complete any resident-centered tasks within the nurse’s scope of practice to promote the highest functioning possible for each resident.

General Duties

  1. Supervise CNAs and CMAs in the delivery of personalized resident care.
  2. Complete admission nursing assessments and discharge summaries.
  3. Coordinate with team members, departments, unit coordinators and physicians to support successful resident transfers.
  4. Provide shift reports to incoming team members.
  5. Ensure physicians are notified of changes in resident conditions and that care plans are followed.
  6. Attend care planning sessions for assigned residents when possible.
  7. Respond to emergency calls throughout the Wesley Towers complex as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Current Kansas LPN or RN license.
  2. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
