WYANDOTTE COUNTY—A Kansas man died in an accident just before 7:30a.m. Saturday in Wyandotte County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2015 Mercedes S-class driven by Michael Roy Gaskin, 38, Kansas City, Kansas, was westbound on Interstate 70 just east of 57th Street.
The vehicle was traveling erratically. A 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Marina Viramontes, 20, Kansas City, Kansas, braked to avoid a collision. Gaskin lost control of the Mercedes and struck a 2008 Ford F350 driven by Robert Adams Parks McDaniel, 48, Grain Valley, Missouri.
After impact, the Mercedes spun into the median barrier wall. McDaniel lost control of the Ford, struck the barrier wall and the Mercedes. The Mercedes then rolled on top of the wall and struck a bridge Pillar.
EMS transported Gaskin to KU Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. McDaniel and Veramontes were not injured. All three drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
