Gene Alan Schierling, 72, passed away April 10, 2023, at his home in Inman, surrounded by his family. He was born April 13, 1950, in McPherson, the son of Herbert T. and Emma Reimer Schierling. He was a graduate of Inman High School. A resident of the area all his life, he had been a plant manager for the sign department at Lowen Sign Company. On December 29, 1969, he married Karen Glenn at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Inman. Gene was an active member of the church, serving on almost every committee available. He had served as treasurer and Deacon. Besides the church, he enjoyed K-State, attending the games, and loved horses, especially 4H shows with his boys when they were young. Gene is survived by his wife; of the home; a son, Jason (Hana) Schierling, Ooltewah, TN; daughter in law, Tiffany Hampton Schierling, Bourneville, OK; a brother, Roy (Shivawn) Schierling, Inman; a sister, Mary Lambert, Colwich, KS; sister in law, Cindy Schierling, Inman; 3 grandchildren, Zora and Zane Schierling, Ooltewah, TN, and Memphis Schierling, Pottsboro, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nathan Schierling; a brother, Richard Schierling: and a nephew, Ross Schierling.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Inman Funeral Home, with the family present. The casket will remain closed. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 14, 2023, at N. Inman Cemetery. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Inman.
