Celebrate Independence Day in several communities

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — There are many places to celebrate Independence Day in the area Tuesday.

Sterling, Kansas will present their major event of the summer, their Old Fashioned 4th of July. The day will offer a wide variety of family fun for kids and adults including their famous turtle races.  

Events will offer a great opportunity to enjoy barbecue, listen to live music and enjoy one of the best fireworks displays around. There will also be lots of games and activities throughout the day and evening including one of the best 4th of July parades.

In Hutchinson, the annual Eagle Radio Patriots Parade is one of the highlights of summer for the Salt City.   

Join Eagle Media and the City of Hutchinson on downtown Main Street starting at 10 a.m. The event is sponsored by Allen Samuels and Eagle Radio, including My 93.1, KWBW 1450AM/98.5FM, and Country 102.9 as well as Hutch Post. 

Later Tuesday, the City of Hutchinson and Showalter Fireworks are having their annual Fireworks Extravaganza the night of July 4 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, Lot C at dusk. 

McPherson is also getting into the Independence Day fun with their Fireworks and More! at Wall Park event. The dedication of the Wall Park playground will be at 7 p.m.  

There will also be a variety of activities for kids including, face painting, tattoos, glow bracelets, and more.  

Live music will start at 7:30 p.m. with Petty Cash, followed by a fantastic fireworks show at dark.  

In Kingman, All-American Family Fest at Riverside Park will begin at 9 a.m. Follow up here for a full list of events.  

A firework display will close out the night in Kingman at 9:45 p.m.  

Also in North Newton, Kansas, the community is invited to celebrate the Fourth of July at Kidron Bethel Village’s Annual Fireworks Extravaganza.

Arrival will begin at 7:30 p.m. The free outdoor event will include family fun with games, giveaways, and food for purchase, including Salted Creamery ice cream. 

Kidron Bethel Village, a Bluestem Community, is located at 3001 Ivy Drive in North Newton.  

Parking for the event will be marked. Lawn chairs are recommended for fireworks viewing. Flashlights may be helpful for navigating to and from parking areas. There is no admission charge.
