Mary June Cline, 88, of Hutchinson, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Presbyterian Manor Long Term Care in Wichita, KS. She was born on August 26, 1935, to Basil Wade and Virginia (Buttrey) Crist.
Mary grew up in the Bear Creek community in Hamilton County, KS. She received her bachelor’s degree in 1959 at Fort Hays State College. In 1987 she received her master’s degree from Wichita State University. Mary taught for 4 years in Greeley, CO at the age of 20 in 1955. In 1957, Mary married Lowell Cline, where they moved to Mt. Hope to teach for 1 year. They moved to Hutchinson and settled there. She taught at USD 308 for 30 years and retired in May 1997. Mary was a lifetime member of the Republican National Committee and a member of First Presbyterian Church serving as Elder and Deacon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Virginia; husband, Lowell Cline; and sister, Annette Adkins. Mary is survived by her daughter, Tonya Cline; sister, Carol Rogers; nephew, Mark Adkins; nieces, Ginny (Phil) Leckenky and Susan Knight; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman St, Hutchinson, KS, with Rev. Christine Kass officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. The burial will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church Deacon Fund or Dillon Nature Center and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
