Gladys Fern (Unruh) Schmidt, 88, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Moundridge Manor. She was born on November 25, 1935 to Murphy and Susie (Koehn) Unruh at their home near Galva, Kansas.
She was a member of the Gospel Mennonite Church of Moundridge.
Gladys was united in marriage to Don Schmidt on December 29, 2013. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2018.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at Mercy Hospital for 47 years.
She is survived by her sister, Gloria (Leeland) Koehn of Homeworth, OH; three brothers, Rodney (Doris) Unruh of Grafton, ND, Lewellyn (Glenda) Unruh of Galva, KS, and Linford (Deanna) Unruh of Grafton, ND; sister-in-law, Nola Unruh of Galva, KS; four stepchildren; and many step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Sadie Unruh; husband; and brother, Sydney Unruh.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Gospel Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Burial will follow at Lone Tree Church Cemetery, rural Galva. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, at Moundridge Funeral Home, with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
