Ellen Nisly, 84, died September 17, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.  She was born August 23, 1939, in Burrton, OH, to Abe J. and Fannie (Miller) Yoder.

After 21 years of service as a hostess at the Dutch Kitchen, Ellen retired.   She enjoyed baking, playing games, gardening and eating Bogey’s ice cream.   Ellen loved her family unconditionally, and they were blessed with her gracious hospitality.  She was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church, Hutchinson.   

On May 4, 1961, she married Jonas Nisly, in Hartville, OH.  He died October 15, 2005, after sharing 44 years of marriage.  

Ellen is survived by:  daughters, Sharon Miller (Loren) of Rio Rancho, NM, Shirley Nisly of South Hutchinson, Shawna Morris (Andrew) of Simi Valley, CA, Sheryl Miller (Victor) of Middlebury, IN, and Sheila Bartley (Thad) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Katie Lehman, Kevin Miller, Megan Bartley, Austin Miller, Hannah Miller, Starla Miller, and Sonya Miller; two great-grandsons, David and Levi Lehman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023, at Plainview Mennonite Church, 5610 W. Trail West Road, Hutchinson.  Burial will follow in Plainview Mennonite Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the church.
