DOUGLAS COUNTY—Law enforcement have a suspect in custody after a homeowner captured a burglary suspect in Lawrence.

Just after 12:30a.m. Thursday, the homeowner in a neighborhood near 27th and Louisiana in Lawrence heard noises in his garage, found an intruder, and held him down on the ground while his wife called for help, according to a statement from Lawrence Police.

Officers were already responding to a house two doors down because the homeowner there called to report someone trying to break in through a window.

Officers quickly made it over to the next call and found the homeowner on the ground with the suspect. Police were able to take over and get the suspect in custody. The homeowner was not physically injured.

Officers transported the suspect to the Douglas County Correctional Facility on requested charges of Attempted Aggravated Burglary and Aggravated Burglary.
