Rita "June" Daughhetee passed away Friday, June 14, 2024 on her 93rd birthday in Hays, Kansas. She was born June 14, 1931 in Burlington, Oklahoma, as the 7th and youngest child of Frank and Minnie (Stuckey) Hamilton. She married Milton Daughhetee on July 2, 1950, and together, they raised two children, Greg and Suzanne (Sue).

She has the distinction of playing girls high school basketball, as this was allowed in Oklahoma. She went to Burlington High School for three years, then married Milton prior to her Senior year. She graduated from Hazelton High School in 1951.

As a family, they lived in many different towns in Kansas over the years. One of which was Courtland, where the kids graduated from high school. She never missed a sports game or a track meet.  Her and Milton spent some years in Tipton Kansas, as well.  They moved to Pratt, Kansas in 1993, where she has lived since.

Her and Milton enjoyed square dancing for several years after his retirement. She was an expert seamstress, and personally made their square dancing outfits. For the last 15 years, she enjoyed quilting with her friends at the United Methodist Church in Pratt, where they donated the proceeds to beautification of the church, or other local charities.

She was a member of the Elks, in Pratt, Kansas and enjoyed dining out there with her friends on "girl's night".

She is survived by her brother, Mervin Hamilton of Oxford, Kansas; son, Greg (Gwen) Daughhetee of Hays, Kansas; daughter, Sue Daughhetee of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Milton Daughhetee; parents; one brother; four sisters; son-in-law, Ed Davis; and special friend, Floyd Vratil.  

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Larrison Mortuary with lunch to follow. Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Rosehill Cemetery in Hazelton, Kansas

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Larrison Mortuary.
