Hutchinson man arrested after foot chase through McPherson Walmart

MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Police arrested a Hutchinson man on outstanding warrants after a Sunday morning foot chase in Walmart there.

According to a release, around 8 a.m. Sunday, McPherson County Sheriff's officers responded to a vehicle in the ditch and an individual walking away from the area of K-61 and 14th Avenue. The vehicle was discovered to have been stolen from Hutchinson.

Around 10:40 a.m., McPherson police received a report of a vehicle burglary in the 2100 block of East Kansas Avenue. The description matched the person they had been looking for earlier.

At about 11:20 a.m., officers were notified that the person of interest was inside the McPherson Walmart. Officers confronted him in the store and he fled through the store and out an emergency exit. After a brief foot chase, officers caught him in the 2200 block of Kansas Avenue. 

Seth Gilliam was arrested on outstanding warrants. Additional charges, if any, will be determined by the McPherson County Attorney's Office. 

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
