Barbara Ann Sharp, 92, passed away December 21, 2024, at Waldron Place Senior Living Center which she lovingly referred to as her cruise ship docked on dry ground.  She was born in Hutchinson, KS, June 15, 1932, to Albert Charles and Margaret (Miller) Schroder.  Her mother later married Thomas Jefferson Sharp.

Barbara married the love of her life Lee Everett Sharp on October 3, 1981.  They enjoyed taking cruises, weekend getaways, attending Ozark Christian College conferences, spending time with friends, bowling and playing cards.

Barbara attended Ludlow High School in Ludlow, Missouri.  She was a guard on the girls’ basketball team and graduated valedictorian.  She attended Salt City Business School graduating with high honors and was asked to stay on as the school’s secretary.  After four years, Barbara expanded her horizons working at a job in Chicago before moving back to Kansas.  She then worked at Hussey Insurance Company.  She settled into a permanent hob with Santa Fe Trucking transferring to New Mexico when she worked until 1981.

Barbara volunteered for the American Red Cross, was a member of the ABWA (American Business Women’s Association) and was awarded Woman of the Year in 1989.  She was church secretary until the age of 89! Bible study was an important part of her life continuing it until the last week of her life.  She met for regular games of Hand and Foot and Uno, was an amazing Bible and regular trivia player as well as doing word puzzles and sudoku.

Barbara is survived by her: brothers, Marvin (Jackie) Schroder, Cornwall, PA and Ivan Schroder, Hannibal, MO; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her: husband; parents; brother Clifford Shroder; and sisters, Maxine, Lois and Leila.  Sister Betty Hoppes passed away after Barbara’s death.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 10 am  Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Solid Rock Bible Church, 15 N. Poplar, South Hutchinson, with Pastor Lee Smith officiating.  There will be a private family inurnment.
