The Hutchinson High School Debate Team is inviting the public to attend a live debate later this month, featuring some of the program’s top student competitors.

The event is scheduled for March 31 in the PLC, located adjacent to the cafeteria at Hutchinson High School.

The debate will center on the topic: Resolved: The salt mines of Hutchinson should be utilized for nuclear waste storage.

Taking the affirmative side will be Mersadies Marciano and Nikon Sublett, while Emma Ruzhanovska and Brayden Graham will argue the negative. Serving as Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Coryn Knackstedt.

Organizers say the public debate offers a chance for community members to see firsthand the skills students have developed throughout the year, including research, critical thinking, and public speaking.
